First, I must say the recipes underestimate how much sweetener is needed—and I don’t typically like overly sweet desserts. I’d use honey, caramel, or something that flows rather than sugar for better consistency. If you’re good at following directions, unlike myself, you can probably shave the surface to get nice rolls of ice cream as advertised. But even if you let it sit too long, you can still scrape it up and chop everything together. So this ice cream roller does work. If the ice cream you make doesn’t taste good, you can only blame yourself. For even better results, I think I’ll blend my base with the flavors I want. Also the small plastic spatula choppers are pretty effective and can chop through nuts and such.

Things I liked about this product: the larger size is definitely helpful, you can get more ice cream out of each use. The trouble shooting guide and tips are great, makes the process a lot easier. The silicone mat prevents the tray from sliding around so I love that they included that.
